Local filmmaker's "Call and Response" gets buzz worldwide, shows in Berkeley this Thursday

Oakland musician turned documentarian, Justin Dillon, has always used his guitar like an AK-47. Now he's using it like a video camera for the rockumentary—Call + Response. A tour in Russia with his band, Tremolo, turned into a life altering journey to eradicate the modern-day slave trade.
According to Call +  Response, there are more slaves today than ever before. Having never produced or directed a film, Dillon began cold calling  celebrities and organizations. The response was encouraging, to say the least. Celebrities and musicians jumped at the opportunity to spread the word. From Julia Ormond and Ashley Judd to Moby and Natasha Bedingfield, A-listers offered their words, but, most importantly their voices and music to shed light on this global problem.

Call + Response premieres at the California Theater (2113 Kittredge, Berkeley) on
November 20th. Check the
website for more information.
