Olive is the New Green
Eco-friendly clothes are relatively hard to find on this side of the Caldecott Tunnel, so Kristy Crowell is looking forward to unveiling Olive boutique at Danville’s Rose Garden. It will open in September and specialize in sustainable, slightly edgy fashions for men and women, including luxury Ts made from organic cotton and upscale jeans by Loomstate and Paige Premium Denim.
Free People, a women’s line known for floaty, vintage-style silhouettes, is joining its parent company, Urban Outfitters, as a separate store in the same building at 1530 Olympic Boulevard in Walnut Creek. The building will channel a bohemian mood, with a 1930s-style mural painted on its exterior.
Rick and Irene Needoba have opened the first American boutique devoted to Liliana Castellanos couture at 1414-B North Main Street in Walnut Creek. The Bolivian designer is noted for her work with alpaca fabrics, silks, and linens, as well as tribal-inspired embroidery and macramé. Expect sundresses, tops, suits, shawls, and coats, along with clothing and accessories by Canadian, Danish, Italian, and Peruvian designers. Men’s jackets and sweaters will join the lineup for fall.
Broadway Eye Works has left Broadway Plaza for a much larger space at 1389 North Broadway in the Courtyard, all the better to stock its extensive inventory of eyewear from Tiffany & Co., Versace, Bulgari, Chanel, Fendi, and other upscale labels. Esthetics International, which opened recently at 1519 Cypress Street, offers antiaging facials, makeup lessons, image consulting, and high-end skincare products.
